The musical Kristina från Duvemåla [Eng: Kristina from Duvemåla] is opening at the Göteborg Opera in autumn 2014 – just in time for the 20th anniversary of the opera house. The production is being done in collaboration with Blixten & Co who are taking the musical on to Stockholm in autumn 2015.
Kristina från Duvemåla is a musical constructed by Benny Andersson, Björn Ulvaeus and Lars Rudolfsson around author Vilhelm Moberg's epic emigrant story. The action is centred around Kristina, Karl Oskar, their family and friends from the region of Småland who, like a million other Swedes, emigrated to North America from the mid-19th century onwards.
It was first performed in Malmö in 1995. After that, the musical played at the Göteborg Opera and at Cirkus in Stockholm during the period 1995-99 and was seen by more than 1 million people.
Tickets for the Gothenburg production are expected to go on sale in March 2014 with the Stockhom Production announced laster in 2014

Local students welcome ABBA to Madame Tussauds Blackpool
Students from Phil Winston's Theatreworks Dance and Musical College were chosen to welcome the arrival of iconic group, ABBA, to Madame Tussauds Blackpool and launch ABBA Month at the attraction.
The group of young people, all based in Blackpool, kicked off the ABBA-oke competition which will run throughout October school holidays in celebration of the group's back catalogue of famous hits.
Visitors to the attraction this month can look forward to taking part in the singing competition which will feature only songs by the Swedish four piece, who have sold more than 370 million albums and singles worldwide.
Matthew Titherington, General Manager at Madame Tussauds Blackpool said “We're delighted to have ABBA at the attraction and could think of no better way to welcome the Swedish stars than with a performance from our home-grown talented young people.”
“ABBA-oke has been created as a fun way for all our visitors to help us celebrate the music of the incredibly popular group. Singing their songs really brings the figures to life and is something the whole family can get involved in!” Matthew concluded.
The figures are captured in replica styling of their 1975 video for 'SOS'. Group members Agnetha and Anni-Frid are wearing yellow and blue mini-dresses teamed with white knee-high leather boots. Benny and Björn are styled in white outfits encrusted with diamantes and sequins finished off with platform boots.
The group cost £600,000 to create and took a dedicated team of sculptors and hair and colour artists four months to create.

In choosing PledgeMusic’s direct-to-fan platform, Max Ström Publishing is giving ABBA fans the opportunity to pre-order the special ‘Super Trouper’ collector’s edition of ABBA – The Official Photo Book: for delivery in March ahead of the publication of the main consumer version which will be available in more than 20 countries in 2014, to coincide with the 40th anniversary of ABBA's Eurovision win and resulting international breakthrough.
The ‘Super Trouper’ collector’s edition of ABBA – The Official Photo Book has a limited print-run of 5,000 copies, each individually numbered and signed by the authors: award-winning picture editor, Bengt Wanselius, and leading Swedish writer, Petter Karlsson. The collector’s edition’s 460 pages feature more than 600 pictures (100 of which are previously unseen), 40 bonus pages of images (not available in the main consumer version), and is delivered in a presentation box. This will also contain a section with all the names of the dedicated fans who made the limited edition possible by ordering the book before 15th December 2013. Fans who pre-order the book will also gain access to private ‘Pledgers only’ updates from the making of the book.
The collector’s edition also features a DVD with a specially produced documentary on ABBA in pictures, and is included with a numbered print which is a rare alternative shot from the cover session for the Super Trouper album (1980) printed on high-quality photographic paper.

Thursday night 14th November 2013 was an iconic night for ABBA Fans around the globe, Agnetha performed for the first time in 25 years in front of a live audience at the Hammersmith Apollo for the Gala event CIN ROCKS: Children in need.
The evening was a fantastic event hosted and organised by Gary Barlow.
Other artists who participated in the gala were among others The Wanted ,Tom Jones, Barry Manilow , Robbie Williams, Little Mix, Kings of Leon and Jeff Lynne . Although it was Agnetha that stole the show totally.
